The program has exposed me to a world of new friends, skills, ideas, and overall is a good thing. I’ve experienced competitions, seen teams from all over the world, won awards, and nothing can take that experience away from me! I’m also not good at drawing things out in a good manner. Why did you join FIRST Robotics Team 3667? I enjoyed what happened last year, so I’d like to do it again! I first saw the team at SC4, and there we got a button. And ever since then, I wanted to join. I love robotics and programming, plus this team is exposing me to important skills I’ll need in the future. Again, I’m bad at making things lengthy.

I resigned for a year, which was a mistake. So I’m in high school now and I heard about Team 3667 robotics. I knew most of the kids on the team except Northern which was okay. So I joined and here I am now. I love this team and will always.

Making it to the FIRST World Championship last year was a great experience that showed me how many other people shared this passion with me. Due to this being my first year on a FIRST robotics team, FIRST has not impacted me substantially. I was encouraged by many members of my family to join for roughly four years prior to joining and at first I agreed with the suggestions, though come my freshmen year of high school, I chose to avoid joining due to a lack of information and general anxiety that surrounded the idea of joining. Sometime during my sophomore year, I decided to join the team with the primary motive of evaluating my interest in robotics, and the secondary motive of making situations I can use to assist with breaking barriers put up by my anxious nature. Name: Ryan Sub-team: Build Grade: 12th Years on the team: 3 How has the FIRST program impacted your life? The FIRST program has impacted my life in many ways. Way back to the time when kids brought Pokemon cards to school to trade and battle like miniature peace treaty’s and turf wars, I had a very hard time talking to people face to face. Fast forward to the present, I’m able to maintain a conversation with someone. This team has helped me not just socially, but educationally, too. I have been able to apply what I have learned here and apply it in my Mechatronics program at Saint Clair TEC (although they changed the name to Robotic and Engineering recently. Boring, right?) And I have been able to take what I have learned there and apply it here, whether it be in the shop or graphical design. What most people don’t know is that I have Autism. Doctors say that I’m “High Functioning Autism” or “Asperger’s”. I really don’t care. What I do know, is when I tell that to people, the most common reply is either “Really?” or “I don’t believe you.” But because of this, I can see problems from a totally different angle, and that has helped this team proceed in dark times. Especially when the lights wouldn’t turn on. Those times were really dark. Why did you join FIRST Robotics Team 3667? I joined this team because I thought it would be a fun learning experience. And it has. Unlike most kids, I don’t sit in front of a TV or play games immediately when I get home. I like challenges. If you ask most people who know me really well, they’ll tell you: I will tackle any problem in way of my goal. I’m a very hands-on person, and I love building things (surprising, right?). I have made friends from both PHHS and PHN, as well as a new family with this team. I have learned many things from both my fellow team mates and mentors that, despite what you think, you truly don’t know everything. And throughout this journey on the team, one thing that I have learned, and something that you’ll learn that will stick to you for the rest of your life, is that when you cry, it’s not because your weak, it’s because you’ve been strong for far too long.

The FIRST program has already made a significant impact in my life, for it has assisted me in coming out of my shell, as I used to only break my shy streak when discussing a subject that I’m interested in and/or have an at-least sizable amount of knowledge on. I especially “came out of my shell” during the Power-Up competition, where I was cheering more than I normally do, and even encouraging others to cheer as well! I also have heard of another programming language, “Eclipse Neo,” and have learned the basic difference between “JavaScript” and “Java”-the latter of those two programming languages covers more than the other. Why did you join FIRST Robotics Team 3667? It seemed like (and still is) lots of fun, along with an excellent learning opportunity. Also, I wanted to help Coach Annie and Coach Grewe too! I also would like to help everyone else out on the team too, of course. I also felt that I should use my computer programming knowledge so I can help others. I’d also like to obtain the knowledge of how to build a robot. Along with the digital design knowledge that I’m gaining currently, I think that I can go far.

Name: Christian Sub-team: Graphic Design Grade: 11th Years on the team: 3 How has the FIRST program impacted your life? The FIRST program has impacted my life by showing me how the workplace will function. I will have to meet deadlines and be efficient in all that I do. I have also learned valuable teamwork skills through my time on this team. I have had trouble with criticism on my work, but with the help of this team I am overcoming this issue. Why did you join FIRST Robotics Team 3667? I joined FIRST to learn how to make robots. I learned that creating robots is more than just metal. Creating robots involves teamwork, programming, marketing , CAD, design, and wiring. I also wanted to join robotics for the friendships, and I got what I signed up for. I enjoy robotics because it helps me learn job skills and make great friends.

Name : Tyler Sub-team : Build Grade : 10 Years on the team : 2 How has the FIRST program impacted your life ? FIRST has impacted my life by letting me continue to pursue my passion of building, tinkering, tearing things apart, and learning how things work. FIRST has enabled me to make countless new friends and to improve my social skills. Why did you join FIRST Robotics Team 3667? I joined Team 3667 because I have always loved building things and driving things — and because the first time I heard about robotics I instantly wanted to do it. Ever since, I have been doing robotics. The first time I saw what FRC did and what they build, I wanted to join a team and my mom told me about a local team that i could join.
